Red light therapy, also known as photobiomodulation, uses specific wavelengths of red and near-infrared light to interact with the body’s cells. Unlike ultraviolet light, it does not tan or intentionally damage the skin.
Red and near-infrared light can be absorbed by light-sensitive components within cells, particularly in the mitochondria. This interaction may support cellular energy production and natural signaling processes associated with recovery, circulation and tissue function.
Photobiomodulation is the scientific term for using specific wavelengths of light to influence biological activity within cells and tissues. “Photo” refers to light, while “biomodulation” describes its ability to support or modify cellular processes.
Red light primarily targets the skin and more superficial tissues. Near-infrared light is invisible to the human eye and can reach deeper tissues, making the combination suitable for broader full-body wellness and recovery routines.
Different wavelengths interact with tissue at different depths and may serve different purposes. Kwinzzer combines nine wavelengths—480, 590, 630, 660, 670, 810, 830, 850 and 1060 nm—to provide a broader spectrum covering surface-level skin wellness and deeper tissue-focused applications.
Blue and amber wavelengths complement traditional red and near-infrared light. Blue light is generally used for surface-level skin applications, while amber light is associated with skin appearance and tone. Select the appropriate mode according to your device instructions and wellness goal.
Red light therapy is designed to work through light rather than intense heat. You may experience gentle warmth during a session because of the LEDs and device output, but treatment should remain comfortable and should not feel painfully hot.
Session time depends on the device, treatment distance, body area and selected intensity. More exposure is not necessarily better. Follow the protocol provided with your Kwinzzer device and begin with shorter sessions while learning how your body responds.
